New work forthcoming in CRAFT and Hawai’i Pacific Review

I’ve been so busy with little bits here and there since last fall, and I’m excited to share that CRAFT will publish one of my flash CNF pieces in May of 2024. Hawai’i Pacific Review will publish another short piece of mine in the next several weeks.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the work that is done by each word. It’s become clear to me how so much of what I write is far too long to be submitted to short story journals. Editing is always necessary, of course, but I think I’m always going to just naturally bend toward using more words to say something. So, it’s been a nice experiment to start with an idea, a word count that is a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the usual length of my work, and try to make something happen.
